History

Here at Kinross High School we are exceptionally proud of the history of our school. Education has been at the heart of the community from as long ago as 1617 when the local parish established a school led by our first recognised schoolmaster, John Coldon Jnr. Another notable schoolmaster was Robert Burns Begg, the grandnephew of Scotland’s most famous bard. Robert Burns Begg was elected in 1822 and served as schoolmaster for 51 years. The school has evolved over time and has established an identity and ethos that encourages our learners to develop ambitions, demonstrate respect and compassion, build resilience, and make an impact on both a local and global scale. Since its official opening in 2010, the school has been a major part of the Loch Leven Community Campus here in Kinross. Our campus is a modern and innovative facility providing the school and wider community with a hub to support education, inclusion, culture and wellbeing to enrich the life of local residents. Our learners have access to a modern education facility that creates opportunities to explore and develop their skills and knowledge across a growing number of areas. The history and identity of the school provides a strong foundation on which our young people can flourish.

Alumni

Kinross High School is extremely proud of all our pupils who go out and make a positive impact in both our local community and also further afield. We recognise and take great pride in the achievements and successes of all our former pupils within their chosen fields. In recent times we have enjoyed the successes of two of our high profile alumni, British athletes Eilidh Doyle and Laura Muir. Both have demonstrated a real drive to succeed both in sport and academically. They have represented their country at an elite level and their careers have mirrored the values that we hold here at Kinross High School.

Legacy

As a school, we are always keen to hear about the successes of our former pupils. We are eager to forge new ties with our alumni and encourage both former pupils and staff to get in touch and help us stay connected with our school family.
