Exams
Young people in S4-6 will work towards their qualifications, which range from National 1 to Baccalaureate. These qualifications are delivered through a variety of assessments such as units marked in school, practical work, assignments and exams.
The main exam diet for National 5 to Advanced Higher qualifications will take place in April and May each year. The full details can be found on the Qualifications Scotland website.
To prepare young people for their exams, national 5 prelims will take place in November/December each year with Higher and Advanced Higher assessments taking place in January.
Exam Timetable
Qualifications Scotland have published their exam timetable for 2027, which can be found here. Results day is 10 August 2027.
Your Exams
Qualifications Scotland has published Your Exams, a helpful guide for learners studying National 5s, Highers and Advanced Highers in 2026-27. The guide explains what to expect throughout the assessment and exam process, including revision support, exam-day guidance, results and appeals.
We encourage all learners and families to take a look at the guide early in the session to help build confidence and prepare for success. It also signposts useful tools, including the MyExams and MyStudyPlan apps, to support organisation and revision.
You can access the guide here.
