Rights Respecting School Award Steering Group (Benarty)

KHS is on a journey to becoming a Rights Respecting School and the Benarty Pupil Leadership Team are the steering group for this initiative. Working collaboratively with staff, pupils and other schools will help us achieve Bronze status this session then prepare for Silver next school year. At the moment, the team are looking at data gathered from pupils and staff across the campus to gather a picture of how Rights Respecting we are. This data will be used to create an Action Plan for Silver which captains next year can implement.

Climate in Kinross (Lomond)

This year the Lomond Pupil Leadership Team are focusing on our impact on the environment. With an ever-increasing awareness of climate issues, as a school we are keen to support the end to the climate crisis. Some objectives for 2019-20 are:

  • Plastic Free Week (February 2020)
  • Bid for funding to support recycling at LLCC
  • Raising awareness of the influence of plastic

The team have also used weeHGIOS to help with their planning and look forward to continuing these initiatives in future sessions.

Mental Health and Wellbeing (Ochil)

Everyone at Kinross High School should feel safe and happy. That is why the Ochil Pupil Leadership Team are focusing on the support systems in place for young people at KHS. By promoting positive mental health and wellbeing, the team aim to make this a priority for every single pupil in our school.

This year our captains have attended an induction session in late September to prepare for the year, have fortnightly meetings as a team and attended a Recall day in February to finalise plans for the year as well as prepare for the next session.
