NHS Healthcare Experience
The NHS are offering the immersive learning experience to senior pupils who are possibly considering a career in a health or social care profession. It is often difficult for pupils to identify and consider entering healthcare professions as many have no prior knowledge of the scope and range of roles available in healthcare. NHS Tayside and the University of Dundee are working together to offer pupils the opportunity to take part in an exciting four hour experience. This experience will allow the pupils to get involved in simulated activities alongside a wide range of professionals.
The sessions involves two main parts:
1. The pupils will be working in a simulated ward; caring for patients, assessing their needs and abilities and taking part in ward discussions regarding their treatment plan.
2. The pupils will take part in short experiences trying some skills required in acute and community based settings.
During the experience pupils will meet and work alongside professions such as:
Speech and Language Therapy
The session takes place in the Teaching Hub (Ward 12) Perth Royal Infirmary (PRI).
This year, the NHS are offering 2 x 4hr sessions to maximise the places available - 9-1 and 12 - 4.
Pupils can apply for their preferred session but their preferred choice cannot be guaranteed.
If you are aware of a specific need for one session, re travel etc please let us know in your statement on the form.
Pupils can be met at the front door/ reception of PRI at 8:45 and 11:45if required.
